This series of collages was initially conceived to be a book or 'zine, and each piece measures 11 x 17". Techniques used include solvent transfers, pigment transfers, and collage.
They are comprised of found and scavenged photographs, images culled from my own personal history and that of strangers. Indirect and coded references are made to events in my past, specifically my involvement in party/rave culture, growing up in the suburbs of New Jersey and the exaggerated gender roles and expectations that existed there, and my current life in a urban center that abounds with discount centers and detritus. These collages were borne out of my hunger for narrative, specificity and immediacy. Composing with elements that carry personal or social significance adds a new meaning to the final result; associations are suggested, stories are told, a fragmentary archive is created.
